BELIZE BIRDING
Belize is a birdwatchers paradise, and the Lodge at Chaa Creek is a centerpiece of this paradise. Belize has about 600 species throughout the country, and half of these have been recorded in Chaa Creek's 365 acre private reserve. This means that without moving more than 5 miles from your comfortable lodge room you have the opportunity to find half of the birds of an entire tropical country. To take advantage of this rare birding opportunity, we have a birding package that is suitable for dedicated birders, starting birders, and for those birders traveling with their partner who may would prefer to enjoy their stay in Belize with more variety - as many of our birder clients also do. This is a 6 day/5 night fully guided package that fits in well with a short trip to Belize that only used five business days. Extra days can be added, of course, including on Ambergris Caye, either as overnight or a day trip. While snorkeling and diving will be the main focus - or just relaxation - on Ambergris, a birding component can be added as well. As this is a private tour it is ideal for a family to share time together on a personally paced guided birding tour while ofering some diversions for the kids, and without feeling pressured by other birders in a group tour.

When to go? Birding is wonderful all year round at Chaa Creek. During the months of April, May, June, July and August avian activity heats up, as an abundance of raucous birds compete for space with the new blooms of spring to begin the fascinating task of building their nests and then releasing their novice fledglings within the reserve. The autumn months of October, November and early December herald the return of our migratory bird visitors who, rather like the lodge's guests, choose Belize’s warm tropical climate, fresh fruits and long day hours over the frigid confines of their northerly habitat. But there's more than just birds at Chaa Creek, and the rainforest alarm clock - the Black Howler Monkey, for example, is sure to be seen - and heard!
How much is it? From May 1 to December 15 the per person rate is $1280, based on four people in the group. Please contact us if there's just two of you., or for travel in the peak season December 16 to April 30. The Lodge at Chaa Creek has a number of accommodation types, and upgrades are possible at additional cost.
